NETS Group 3
Facilitator: Bobbi Mol
ISTE's NETS for Teachers (NETS•T) are the standards for evaluating the skills and knowledge educators need to teach, work, and learn in an increasingly connected global and digital society.
Below you will find one of the ISTE NETS teacher standards (Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity). After reading this information please brainstorm and collaborate as a group to complete the table on the bottom of the page.
Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.
b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources.
c. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.
d. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.
Please take some time to review and discuss this standard and then return as a group to complete the chart. You group facilitator will be the time keeper!

An essential question to consider when beginning this process would be:
Are Ludlow Public School teachers prepared to teach the 21st century skills that are in national and state technology and core curriculum standards and can teachers assess these critical skills (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, etc)?

If not, what steps must the district take to make this come to fruition? If we are, what (if anything) can the district do to better assist teachers?
